Coaching
– guidance for
work-life challenges
Create a protected space.
Coaching has many uses: When taking on a top-level position, starting a management career or during implementation of organizational change. Based on a trustful relationship between coach and client, it provides a protected space to discuss – in a broad sense – work-related issues. Case in point: Companies supporting senior employees while implementing new management structures.
Neutral and dedicated.
Coaching can be initiated by executives themselves should they not (want to) be supported by their organization, prepare for a career change or when offered a new position. In a family business, owners have choices: take on a management role or become a shareholder? A founder’s exit challenges his partnership firm with finding appropriate terms of separation, there may be conflicts with remaining partners, business continuity as well as any future role of the retiree can be issues. The coach is a good listener and sparring partner, freeing the client to discuss any question without reservation.
Practice points
This way of coaching does not follow a formal programme, results emerge at the client’s pace. Discussion may range from fundamental matters to preparing an important meeting. Communication may take any form required – face-to-face, electronic or via telephone.
